Bronze, an alloy of copper, is used to make ornaments some of which corrode when exposed to air for a long time. The table gives information about some of the compounds formed when bronze corrodes. (Ar: Cu 64, O 16, H 1, Cl 35.5, C 12)
- aWrite the symbol for the other element in bronze. [1]
- bComplete the table for R, Cu₂(OH)₃Cl: mass of 1 mole and percentage copper. [2]
- cSuggest one substance in the air responsible for the corrosion of bronze. [1]
- dDescribe a chemical test to show that compound Q contains carbonate ions. [2]
You'll mark your own answer against the marking guide when you hand it in.
